Here are just a few definitions that I’ve encountered along my way:
adroit (adj): clever or skillful in using the hands or mind
assiduous (adj.): showing great care and perseverance
denouement (n): the final part of a play, movie, or narrative in which the strands of theplot are drawn together and matters are explained or resolved.
dross (n): something regarded as worthless, rubbish.
epaulet (n): an ornamental shoulder piece on an item of clothing, typically on the coat or jacket of a military uniform.
indolent (adj.): wanting to avoid activity or exertion; lazy.
mordant (adj.) (esp. of humor) having or showing a sharp or critical quality; biting
mercurial (adj.) (of a person) subject to sudden or unpredictable changes of mood or mind; lively; sprightly
polemical (adj.): of, relating to, or involving strongly critical, controversial, or disputatious writing or speech.
repousse (adj): (of metalwork) hammered into relief from the reverse side.
redolent (adj): strongly reminiscent or suggestive of (something); also fragrant or sweet-smelling.
retrousse (adj): (of a person’s nose) turned up at the tip, esp. in an attractive way
satiety (n): the feeling or state of being sated.
trenchant (adj.): vigorous or incisive in expression or style.
unctuous (adj): excessively or ingratiatingly flattering; oil.
usurious (adj): of or relating to the practice of usury (the illegal action or practice of lending money at unreasonably high rates of interest)
